Cibolo has been one of the fastest-growing small cities in Texas for the better part of twenty years, expanding from a few thousand residents to a substantial suburb along the FM 1103 and I-35 corridor. Almost everyone here arrived recently, which shows in the booking pattern: newborn and maternity sessions, first birthdays and young family portraits dominate.
Geographically it sits at a useful transition. West of town is dense suburban development; a few minutes east and south the land opens into working farmland with wide sky, tall grass and almost no one around. That open country is the strongest photographic asset in 78108 and it is badly underused.
Steele High School and the surrounding Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD campuses drive senior portrait demand each summer, on the same autumn yearbook timetable as the rest of the region.
Maternity and newborn work in a young suburb
Maternity sessions are among the most common bookings here, and they follow the same rule as everywhere: 30 to 34 weeks for a single pregnancy, earlier for twins. The advantage in Cibolo is that open, uncrowded countryside is five minutes away, which is exactly the backdrop most maternity galleries are built around.
The heat is the constraint. From June through September, sessions in open ground start in the final forty-five minutes before sunset and not before — there is genuinely no shade out there.
Cibolo Creek and the eastern farmland
The creek corridor gives the opposite conditions: heavy tree cover, water and comfortable shade well before sunset, making it the summer alternative when open country is unworkable.
East and south toward Marion and New Berlin, the land flattens into farmland — sorghum, hay bales in summer, gold grass in autumn and wide unobstructed sunsets. Anything on private land needs the owner’s permission, which is worth arranging rather than assuming.

When should I schedule a maternity session in Cibolo?
Between 30 and 34 weeks for a single pregnancy, or 26 to 30 weeks for twins. Book with a few weeks of buffer so the date can move if needed — a session scheduled at 36 weeks sometimes does not happen at all.
